The most underrated NFL team heading into the 2025-26 season

As many of you know, this NFL offseason has been wild. From major trades, big contracts, and lots of action, this season should be a good one. The team that stands out most to me however… the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks signed quarterback Sam Darnold to a three-year, $100.5 million deal. This move came on the heels of trading Geno Smith to the Raiders and DK Metcalf to the Steelers, marking a clear shift in the team's offensive strategy. The contract includes a built-in exit after the first year, with $37.5 million guaranteed upfront. In my opinion, this was the best signing this offseason. The Seahawks already have a promising wide receiver who is due for a breakout season. Jaxon Smith-Njigba had 100 receptions, tallying over 1,100 yards in 2024. This was behind quarterback Geno Smith, who in short, has been a solid option for them but nothing special. With the addition of Darnold, I think we see Njigba have a major breakthrough, becoming one of the league’s best receivers this season (2nd round fantasy draft pick!). Other notable signings include DeMarcus Lawrence, who signed a three-year, $42 million contract, adding experience and depth to the defensive line. Also, Leonard Williams re-signed with the Seahawks on a three-year, $64.5 million deal, solidifying the defensive front. The team not only has a new look player wise, but also Pete Carroll’s long run as head coach came to an end as he transitioned into an advisory role, paving the way for a new era in Seattle. The Seahawks hired Mike Macdonald as their new head coach, injecting fresh energy and a defensive-minded approach into the organization. Under Macdonald’s leadership, the team is prioritizing a physical, aggressive defense—a shift that’s already generating excitement among players like Mike Morris, who have high expectations for the season ahead. I think this team is built for a playoff run, and the number one spot in the NFC West this year. Keep an eye out for Darnold I believe he can be in a nice position to finish high in MVP voting.

Knicks Season at a glance

The 2024–25 season represented a major breakthrough for the New York Knicks, highlighted by their first trip to the Eastern Conference Finals in 25 years. Led by head coach Tom Thibodeau, the team posted a 51–31 record in the regular season, finishing second in the Atlantic Division and earning the third seed in the Eastern Conference. Acquired in a blockbuster trade, Karl Anthony Towns quickly made his presence felt, earning his first All-Star selection thanks to standout performances such as a 44-point game against the Miami Heat and a 46-point showing against the Chicago Bulls. He was also named Eastern Conference Player of the Month for December 2024. Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns were selected as All-Star starters, marking the first time since 1975 that two Knicks players received that distinction in the same season. Jalen Brunson was honored as the NBA Clutch Player of the Year, topping the league in both clutch points and field goals made during critical late-game moments. He also put on a scoring clinic with a 55-point performance against the Washington Wizards, further highlighting his offensive dominance. Acquired from the Brooklyn Nets, Bridges bolstered the team's defense and perimeter shooting. His durability and defensive skills were instrumental in the Knicks' success. The Knicks reached the Eastern Conference Finals after securing playoff series victories over the Detroit Pistons and Boston Celtics. However, their run came to an end in six games against the Indiana Pacers. The best series, in my opinion, was the first series against the Pistons. Jalen Brunson showed why he was the clutch player of the year. Putting up real life NBA 2K numbers every game, it seemed. We also saw the three-headed monster defensively of Josh Hart, OG Anunoby, and Mikal Bridges. The best part of the entire playoffs for me was Brunson hitting that game sealing shot over Ausar Thompson. Although the Knicks could not get past the Indiana Pacers, I am very proud of how this team played. Regular season, I thought we were a second round exit. We not only made the Eastern Conference Finals, we beat the Boston Celtics in a playoff series!! Prior to Jayson Tatum tearing his Achilles, the Knicks were up in game 4 by 9 points, with a few minutes left in the 4th quarter. This game allowed us to go up 3-1 on the Celtics, assuring a series victory. I never thought I would see the day where we beat the Celtics in a playoff series. This, in my opinion, was the last year of Boston’s dominance. Tatum is a major question mark for next season. Al Horford is 39 years old, and you have to wonder how long he has in the NBA. They will have to spend a lot of money to keep this team together, and it is not likely.
